Seated Buddha made from white marble coated with lacquer and gold leaf. The rustling garments of the dignified Buddha are flowing over the edge of the pedastal. It is said that this statue came from the Blue Dragon Temple in Chang’an, China, that was the home of Huiguo, mentor of the famous Japanese monk, Kūkai.
